Shen Yunman. Just... Shen Yunman. I need a minute. This girl is absolutely feral and I am HERE for it. Let's talk about the sibling dynamics in this chapter because they are SO rich. On the surface, you have three sisters — Shen Yunzhi (the talented one who messed up), Shen Yunman (the ambitious one who's losing control), and Shen Yunying (the 'lazy' one who accidentally won everything). But the real story is in the power shifts between them. Shen Yunman has spent her whole life looking down on Shen Yunying. Remember when she grabbed her arm at the banquet and said 'your literary talent is lacking, better not embarrass yourself'? That wasn't just mean — that was someone who genuinely believed Shen Yunying was beneath her. And then the imperial decree comes and flips the entire hierarchy. Yan Peifeng? Higher status than the Yong'an Marquis Mansion in the long run. Shen Yunying, the girl Shen Yunman called lazy and plump and destined for a lowly marriage, just got married to a qilin talent with imperial favor. The scene where Shen Yunman's face goes pale and her nails dig into her palms — that's not just disappointment, that's the shattering of her entire worldview. But what's fascinating is how the adults react. The Second Madam doesn't comfort her daughter; she whispers something about 'it's just the Yan family, not the Eastern Palace' — basically trying to minimize the loss while secretly plotting something darker. And the First Madam? She's the only one who sees clearly: 'Even rivalry between sisters should have its limits.' She's watching Shen Yunman reach for the stars and knowing it'll end badly. The mother-daughter relationship between Shen Yunman and the Second Madam is particularly toxic — they're both using each other, both resentful, both trapped in a system where a woman's value is measured by her marriage prospects. And then there's Shen Yunying, who just... eats pastries and goes home to plant peaches. The contrast is almost comedic.
Let me just say this once: Zhou Tianang is the best dialogue writer's creation in this entire chapter. The man speaks in complete sentences that are somehow both ridiculous and completely sincere. "I told you my nose never lies!" he declares after divining that Shen Qingsong brought breakfast. His entire personality is contained in that line—he's dramatic, superstitious, and utterly convinced of his own brilliance. And the dialogue between him and Du Lang when they're arguing over who gets priority for tomorrow's order? Pure gold. "I was the very first to ask—no taking from my share!" versus "I paid Brother Shuoqing for a whole month in advance—I was first!" These two are so competitive over food it's almost impressive. Their voices are completely distinct—Zhou Tianang is all grand declarations and dramatic gestures, while Du Lang is more practical and transactional. But the real standout is Shen Qingsong's voice. He's so calm and measured compared to everyone else. Even when he's being pressed for food or when Du Lang is making outrageous requests, he responds with polite deflections: "My sister creates her recipes as she pleases." "I must first seek her permission." The author gives him this gentle, almost formal way of speaking that makes him stand out from the chaotic energy of everyone around him. It's a masterclass in using dialogue to establish character.
I need to talk about Lily because this girl is absolutely insufferable and I loved every second of watching her get destroyed. The thing that makes her such a good antagonist is that she's not some cartoonishly evil person—she's just painfully, realistically petty. She judges Lin Xiaoyu purely on appearance, assumes she's poor, and then when proven wrong, her jealousy completely overrides any shred of professionalism. The author really nails her character through specific moments. Like when she tries to swoop in and "help" Lin Xiaoyu right after getting fired-adjacent—that fake smile, the eagerness to steal the commission? That's the moment you know she's truly irredeemable. She's not just rude, she's opportunistic. And then Director Gao is this interesting contrast. He's clearly a high-ranking person who could have just ignored everything, but he steps in decisively. His line "How did you even become a sales assistant? Didn't your manager train you before you started?" shows he's not just about power—he actually has standards. Lin Xiaoyu herself is fascinating too. In her previous life she was apparently poor enough that a 1.888 yuan phone was out of reach, and now she's buying three phones and three laptops and planning to get a Porsche. The rebirth element gives her this cold, almost detached confidence. She doesn't gloat. She doesn't even really engage with Lily after the slap. She just moves on to her next task. That's the kind of character who's survived by being smart, not by being loud.
Director Lin, you sick man. Let me paint the scene for you: three people walk into what they think is a normal practice room. Full-wall mirror, one speaker. Standard stuff. They push the door open and — it's an ICE RINK. Just straight up, a frozen sheet of ice where they're supposed to choreograph a dance routine for an English pop song. Su Yuqing's reaction was honestly the only rational one: "Practicing dance on ice? I can quit the entertainment industry right now." The visual of all three of them trying to dance on ice while repeatedly falling is both hilarious and genuinely stressful. They had to stay in place as much as possible, which completely changes the choreography dynamic. How do you do synchronized movements on a surface where you can't even walk straight? The production team literally cut the live stream during practice time, which added this whole layer of mystery — we, the readers, are also left wondering how the hell they're going to pull this off. What I love about this scene is how it perfectly encapsulates the show's cruel sense of humor. Every detail, from the restroom clue to the ice rink, feels like the production team is personally invested in making Su Yuqing's life difficult. And yet, there's something almost beautiful about the image of three people slipping and falling on ice together, trying to create something beautiful from a impossible situation.
I have to appreciate the dialogue writing here because the author really knows how to make characters sound DISTINCT. Every voice is separate and I can tell who's speaking without seeing the name tags. Sheng Xia's internal monologue is my favorite. 'Tsk, tsk, tsk!' when she thinks Gu Cheng'an came here after sleeping with Liu Mianmian. 'Oh heavens, she hadn't expected Gu Cheng'an to come over. She truly hadn't meant for this to happen.' This woman is constantly narrating her own life like a commentary track and it's HILARIOUS. Gu Cheng'an's dialogue is all cold sneers and aggressive questions. 'What is that woman up to?' 'Don't you already know what I want?' 'How shameless can you be?' He never explains himself, never softens, and that's exactly what makes him terrifying AND compelling. Ye Nuozhou is the comic relief king. 'Your wife is quite something. She sets you up but won't let you touch her, then sends Liu Mianmian over instead. What's her game?' This man is literally providing plot commentary while standing next to the hospital bed. I love him. And Su Qiao's line: 'Who do you think you are? Why should our Xia Xia invite you?' CHAIN. LITERALLY CHAIN. She doesn't even hesitate. She just DESTROYS He Jiajia in two sentences. The dialogue flows naturally, the humor lands, and every character has a distinct rhythm. Sheng Xia's frantic internal panic vs. Gu Cheng'an's cold precision vs. Ye Nuozhou's amused observation—it's like watching three different movies simultaneously and they're all good.

A masterpiece for the beginning and until now the level has not dropped and it is still a bite. I am really impressed. If I have to say then this hero is really my favorite type as he has all the qualities of the best heroes I mean evil, manipulation, intelligence and finally immorality
MILD SPOILER ALERTThis is a nice, refreshing story from what I'm used to. As a female, there came a time where I had to stop reading books with female characters because of how much they annoyed me. But this, I'm loving it.Right now, I think Danielle still needs to learn how to pretend/act but for some weird reason, I love Julia. She'll likely be cruel but she doesn't act like most stereotypical jealous exes. Her threats are pretty real. I'm still reading though, and i literally can't wait to see what happens next.Well done Author.
i lke the story, recommended sya sakin ng friend koo
This story is fantastic! It really triggers me to read more. I'm hooked from the start and can't wait to see what happens next..............
I like it but it feels slow. I like the background talking about the killings. The characters design could be talked about more, and update a little bit more frequently but besides that. I want to know more of the ability’s.
