Let me just say—this author knows how to pace a mystery and I am HERE for it. The Xun Shan confession scene opens with such raw tension. A grave pit, a broken-legged old man, a child buried alive. You think that's the climax? Nope. It's just the beginning of another rabbit hole. The puppet was stolen. The mastermind is still out there. The note has floral-scented ink. And suddenly we're not just tracking a murder—we're tracking an INK supplier. The transition from the grave to Ji Fu is brilliant. One moment Feng Qingsui is a cold avenger leaving a man to his fate, the next she's back home pretending she went for a sunset walk. Madam Qi's line 'Your temperament is exactly like Changfeng's' is such a casual throwaway that it actually does so much heavy lifting. It tells us Ji Changqing is the same restless type, it builds the world, it hints at their connection—all in one sentence. Then the Princess Shouyang scene. Ji Peiyuan is there to be the obstacle, the skeptical consort throwing out medical book references, and Feng Qingsui just… dismantles him. Not with anger, not with drama, but with calm, logical explanation. 'Before pumpkins were introduced to the Xi Kingdom, its people did not believe such a thing existed either.' THAT line. She doesn't even raise her voice. She just watches him deflate. And then—immediately after the medical triumph—she's on a donkey cart hunting for ink shops. The pacing never lets you breathe, but it never feels rushed either. Every scene earns its place.
Okay so the whole trip outside the base was building this slow-burn tension and then BOOM, mutated chickens escape. I literally jumped. Like, one minute they're talking about staple crops and radiation grades, the next there's a dozen high-level mutated chickens charging at first-year agriculture students. The pacing here was chef's kiss. What really got me was how Jiang Luokui handled it. She didn't freeze—she immediately assessed the situation, told people in standard suits to get back on the bus, and when a chicken actually got ON the bus with her? She kicked it out. No panic, just action. And then Pu Qing was just standing outside tapping on her window like 'you okay?' while his shadow tendrils were casually binding chickens like it was nothing. S-rank ability user, my ass—he was showing off and we all knew it. But the real plot twist that hit me wasn't the chickens. It was Bubu. The spirit plant was sniffing the metallic radiation smell and... liking it? Jiang Luokui was literally considering taking off her protective suit to test whether she could handle Level 5 radiation. That's not just curiosity, that's the kind of reckless thinking that comes from someone who's been surviving on instinct this whole time. And the fact that her cultivation technique accelerated just from being near outside radiation? Something is about to change here. I can feel it.

Can’t wait for next chapter. I hope his wife can tell a way to helps his mom. I think she might know or he might of hid some treasure that can might fix her mana core. I wonder if the demon army is ramping out of grief for demon king or if they sense that he was reborn and on a rampage to find him?
The blend of sacred rituals, prophecies, and the looming threat of a cursed land adds tension and depth to the narrative. Each character’s journey feels personal yet tied to the larger fate of their world. Overall, The Holy Gatherers is a compelling read, balancing action, emotion, and a sense of grand purpose. It's a story that stays with you, especially for those who love tales of destiny and personal growth set against epic fantasy backdrops.
incredible. I'm looking for words to describe the twists and turns during the novel. It's very intelligent, how insightful Dinis is, while I was reading I thought: my god, how did this guy think of that? hahahah thanks for that
story seems to have a lot of potential, not fast-paced, which is a good thing. As seen to many of these stories, just shoot off and lose all integrity. it is my hope this book stays on the good path and has many chapters ahead of it.
A Fun read with an entertaining start! Gives a good introduction to the characters and world it takes place in. Loving it so far and can't wait to see what's more to come!
