The snow season scene. Let me just say the snow season scene. Mao Xiaoshu tries to explain how cold it gets and can't find words, so he just... transforms. One second he's a person, the next he's a big orange cat. And he takes the hide garment in his mouth, jumps onto the stone bed, and curls up wrapped in it, tail around his head, SHIVERING. No words. Just performance. The text says "His performance was very apt." And honestly? It's one of the most vivid worldbuilding moments I've read because it does three things at once: it shows us that beastmen can transform, it establishes the brutal cold of the coming season, and it gives us Mao Xiaoshu's personality — he communicates through action, not explanation. The cave itself is barely a home. Stone bed, a firewood stove that barely works, pucker-fruit for food. Qin Ziheng arrives in a three-piece suit with a long overcoat — Qingming season back home, still cold — and here it's hot. The contrast between his civilized world and this primitive existence is constant. But what strikes me most is how the cave becomes a SHARED space. It starts as Mao Xiaoshu's lonely refuge and gradually fills with Qin Ziheng's presence — his clothes, his warmth, his voice. The setting mirrors the relationship: sparse, basic, but becoming something through companionship.
I need to talk about the Interstellar Hotel scene because the author really outdid themselves here. The way the setting is described—Young Master Bai pulling out her chair like some polished gentleman, the decades-aged Lafite, the whole opulent atmosphere— it's so deliberately constructed to make you feel like this is a trap wrapped in luxury. And then Ji Rou, dressed in that red gown, with 'phoenix-like eyes' and 'crimson lips curved slightly, like a temptress in the dark.' That description gave me actual chills. She's not just pretty—she's weaponized her beauty in that moment, and the narrative makes you feel every bit of it. The glass-switching moment is pure cinematic tension. Young Master Bai gets distracted turning around because Ji Rou calls out 'Xiaomei,' and in that split second—*switch*. No music, no dramatic narration, just a quiet, practiced move. I could see this as a close-up shot in a film. The way the author writes it, you can almost hear the liquid moving between glasses. And then Ji Rou drinking the drugged wine while Bai thinks he's safe? Chef's kiss. But the scene that stuck with me the most is probably the dorm at the end. Ji Rou walking back with 400 yuan in her wallet, feeling that wave of despair about money, and then Xu Qingmei appearing like a ray of sunlight. The contrast between the cold, manipulative world of the Interstellar Hotel and the warm, honest space of the dorm is really well done. It grounds the story—reminds us that despite all the schemes and revenge plots, this is still fundamentally about a girl trying to survive in a world that keeps trying to crush her. The worldbuilding isn't about magic systems or elaborate lore; it's about making every location feel like it has weight and meaning.
Let's see where it goes.................
They're no enough chapter for me to provide a more constructive review but from what I have read, it has potential to be something great. The worldbuilding is top notch, the characters are alive and the pacing is quite good. This is definitely a worth to read if you like reading fantasy novels.Thank you so much for creating a wonderful story Author. Keep it up!I'll be wait for your future updates.
I think reading this was not a bad decisio, I have been reading online till now so this is really my first time from signing in the app and reading and it's worth it
The beginning was kinda… but I read further and now I’m hooked. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story goes
Looks promising and I am curious to see how the Author progresses with the plot and also how it eventually ends especially with the whole vampire Werewolf plot.
I love this book ,pls continue , please
A truly great book, absolutely not to be missed. My friend, you deserve this praise.Everything is so perfect, reminding me of the emotions I felt when I first started reading novels. It's truly wonderful.
The wow factor of this novel is Shenlong’s miraculous transformation—watching him go from a disgraced “nobody” to a legendary force through sheer grit and an ancient legacy. Every revelation, from the powerful Qin pendant to his hidden origins, pulls you deeper, keeping you at the edge of your seat. The intense battles, intricate cultivation techniques, and rich world-building make each chapter unforgettable.
Concept is good but zero world building, zero character development, rushed story, rushed dialogue. Another story that ‘could have been’ one of the greats on this platform.
Todays date is 1/21/2021 and their are 39 chapters released so far. I have read 37 of them. I am very very exited about this novel so I may be a bit biased. For writing quality I think the author has done a fine job. Also I have not seen any mistakes but I am not the best with English grammar.Updates are a bit slow with the author releasing them every two to three days at a time but the author has said that it will pick up after they get more written. Story development is good. It is a bit faster than I expected only with the mc leveling pretty fast (it is explained with his abilities(the author includes a nice balance to a great skill) and I do not think it would take the mc that long to reach the level cap before the end of the major ark but I am sure that may not be the actual level cap, and I am only 37 chapters in so a lot could change. To truly now what I am talking about you would have to read it. Which I recommend. Character design is good I did not see any problem with it as of now. It can be improved but this is not why I am reading the novel so it is not a major concern of mine. The author does a good job describing the monsters also. World background is top notch. Very good. Information is important that words cannot describe it entirely. So I think having the mc utilize the information he has would be integral to the story. I am not saying that the mc does not already but I am looking forward to how the mc moves forward from here. Here is to power, cheers "Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories."Thank you to the author for writing such a wonderful start to this novel that has so much potential that it is bursting out of the seems with it. Live long and prosper.
