I need to talk about Jiang Jiming because this man is a VIBE and I have opinions.
First of all—HE PICKED THE LOCK TO HER DOOR. At 5 AM. And then he just... stood there watching her sleep? 'Soft wisps of light fell across her rosy cheeks, her side resting on the pillow, sleeping peacefully, her long breaths making her appear even more youthful and innocent.' This is not a normal person. This is a man who has completely lost his mind over a girl who is literally using him to complete a system quest. And yet—AND YET—he's also the one cooking her favorite food, massaging her legs after training, and feeding her eggs she can't finish. 'He took the partially eaten egg from Wen Chi's hand and ate it himself.' CHI YE'S EYES WENT WIDE. He has a cleanliness obsession and he EATS HER LEFTOVERS. This man is a walking contradiction and I am HERE for it.
But here's what's actually terrifying about Jiang Jiming: he's fully aware that Wen Chi is playing him, and he doesn't seem to care. Or maybe he cares so much that he's chosen to ignore it. The line 'Veins tightened in his hands as he gripped the yellow bedsheet, silently grateful that only he had ever seen this side of Wenwen'—this is obsession. This is possession. This is the kind of love that could either save someone or destroy them.
And then there's the sunflower metaphor. 'My Wenwen shouldn't be a parasitic vine; she should be a sunflower growing toward the sun.' Jiang Jiming literally sees himself as the sun. He's not just her love interest—he's her environment, her source of light, her reason to grow. That's either the most romantic thing I've ever read or the most manipulative, and I genuinely can't decide which.
Wen Chi's relationship with Chi Ye is also worth noting. She hugs him and calls him her 'little lucky star' and promises to protect him, and Jiang Jiming watches from the kitchen with a knife in his hand, eyes narrowed, aura radiating danger. The comedy is real but so is the threat. Chi Ye literally kneels and silently shouts 'Sister-in-law! You're harming me!' This man knows his place and it is NOT in the Leader's way.
The relationship dynamics in this story are layered, messy, and absolutely addictive.
