Okay, so I am writing this review for 2 reasons. One is to increase the rating of this novel as I find it gets better as we progress and the other reason is to say that some of the criticisms are true regarding the character of MC but, BUT the way the author makes the MC behave is not entirely wrong if one seriously considers one's emotional state. Who wants to constantly feel miserable, murderous, untrusting and raging? Even though he has a parasite body (and abilities) his behaviour and mentality is still that of a human, not some evil creature. Killing is a necessary element in a martial world, but being in that state 24/7 would drive anyone insane and miserable. Wouldn't you try to feel pleasant emotions instead? I feel that him falling in love with Lucy is just an accurate representation of that. Latching out for an chance for a better life, trying to connect with someone who could relate to him. I hate lovely-dovely behaviour and drama but felt that even that was an accurate representation how might someone behave given the circumstances. Remember, he has been an orphan in his previous life, hasn't really experienced parental and familial love, the main reason he is still somewhat sane is probably due to the care he received from his foster parents for a short period of time. After being tortured for his money and betrayed by someone whom he loved and thought loved him in turn could only leave you with very limited options to chose for your life. 1) Kill yourself, which he didn't do so since he wanted revenge and got the opportunity. 2) Kill everyone and everything around you by lashing out at the world. Obviously no as it would mean insanity. 3) Brood about how miserable you are and what faith has dealt you, never trusting a human again - which is what he started out as - or 4) be brave for once again to open up to someone (especially someone who has been just as miserable as you are) share your pains and heal each other so as to having a chance for normal, happy life once again. Which would you chose? So, I don't know who is right, who is wrong here, I just wanted to offer my perspective on the matter, perhaps you could share yours if you decide to give this story a go.
