Even from the brief interactions Aheals and Hadeans had, that bit was very obvious - it was against Hadean values to kill their own people regardless of how heavy were their crimes. Hadeans had a similar kind of immortality to Aheals and shared similar values on how to treat life and what atonement looked like. They could peacefully arrange their deals exactly because they had this common value.
