Two types: pipa button (relatively simple to weave, fuller shape, pairs well with heavier fabrics) and butterfly button (much more complicated, requiring one hundred and eight loops of thread wrapping, flatter and lighter, ideal for silk). Yang Zhiyan's master taught her that a frog button is the eyes of the garment.
