A traditional ceremony where the emperor and empress perform symbolic spring plowing at the outskirts to pray for favorable weather and bountiful harvest. After sacrificing cattle and sheep, the emperor symbolically plows with a golden plow while the empress supports it. The Minister of Agriculture digs holes, the emperor places seedlings, and the minister covers them. The imperial couple then sits with farmers, tastes their crops, and follows a pre-set script discussing a peaceful era. This would be Jiang Nong's first time leaving the palace aside from the trip to Shanglin Garden.
