Red ribbons with wishes written on them, hung on the tallest tree by the water during New Year's midnight. According to Great Qi legends, the higher the ribbon, the more likely immortals would see it and the wish would come true. Five ribbons were prepared for each person. Jiang Nong wrote three: one for Empress Dowager Fu, her sisters, and Chao Ning; one reading Xiaoman—full, full, full; and one with a drawing of a small bird. Yu Lingxin added the name Yu Ling Yin beneath the second ribbon.
