A story Yu Lingxin referenced about King You of Zhou who lit beacons to amuse his beauty, causing vassals to rush to the capital thinking an enemy was attacking. Later when the Quanrong actually invaded and he lit the beacons again, no one came and his kingdom fell. Yu Lingxin used this as justification for his scheme.
