A water supply system made from bamboo tubes. Thin tough bamboo was cut and connected with thinner sections in the middle, dried over fire so they shrank and sealed seamlessly. Small tubes were installed in each house courtyard, connecting to a thick washbasin-sized bamboo tube that ran from Cat Valley to the river. Water was drawn out by sucking air from the main pipe.
