He is married to Yuan Mu and lives separately from his father Zhao Si and stepmother Li Changju. Despite being wronged by his father in the past half-year, he still harbors conflicted feelings about family ties. He is cautious and calculating, suspecting Li Changju's sudden visit and his father's illness are suspicious. He gave only two taels of broken silver instead of the ten taels Li Changju demanded.
