Male protagonist, commander of a regiment in the Gobi Desert. Seven years older than Wen Jianing. Was adopted by the Wen family as a child after his mother brought him to Shanghai searching for family. His biological father, believed dead in battle, was actually alive and rose to become an influential military commander. Song Tingyue doted on Wen Jianing as a child but was hurt when she rejected him after discovering her diary pages were torn out. He agreed to pretend to marry Wen Jianing so she could accompany him to the army as a military dependent instead of being sent to the countryside for hard labor.
