The homeroom teacher for the directing department at Beijing Film Academy. She is an elderly woman from Shanghai who entered the Beijing Film Academy the year the national college entrance examination was reinstated and stayed on to teach after graduation. She normally speaks standard Mandarin but her Shanghai dialect slips through when she becomes emotional. She came to Chi Ying's dormitory furious about Chi Ying giving up her Beijing placement, and went to great trouble to stop the department from canceling it. She is concerned about her students and acts as a mentor figure.
