The central character who lived a full life serving her family—raising sons, marrying off daughters-in-law, buying houses, and caring for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a job in her youth which was taken away by her husband Old Li for his rural cousin. During the Reform and Opening years, she ran a stall, bought houses for her three sons, and gave a meat stall to her eldest son's family. After dying from abuse on New Year's Day, she was reborn back to October 3, 1983, the day her eldest son demanded bride price and the day Old Li forced her to give her job away. In her rebirth, she violently confronted her ungrateful family and revealed long-hidden family secrets.
