She is forceful and authoritative, having forced her son into marrying Song Qinghuan to repay a life-debt owed to the Song family (the old master of the Song family saved Lu Qiming's father's life) and to uphold the honor of the martyr's family. She invited Wang Siyu to the engagement as a way to make Lu Qiming let go of his forbidden feelings. She praised Song Qinghuan extensively to convince her son.
