An educated youth in the village who was liked by both Ruan Jiaojiao and Ruan Xiaodie. The original Ruan Jiaojiao pined for him and repeatedly tried to seduce him behind her husband's back. Huo Yunshu knowingly strung her along. He eventually developed feelings for Ruan Xiaodie through repeated encounters and they got together. Ruan Jiaojiao (original) died trying to run away to find him.
