Also known as Father Gu or Brigade Captain Gu, he is the brigade leader (later village chief) and husband of Zhang Shufen. He is described as having an affair with Zhou Lanhua, and Daniu and Erniu are his children, not Yang Tieniu's. He was unaware of the scheme his son and wife were involved in until he arrived at the scene. He violently kicks and slaps Gu Dahai and Zhang Shufen when he discovers the scandal. He is suspected of corrupt practices, including buying votes with eggs during elections.
