Er Dan is a child character, another of the children who gather pig fodder on the mountain. He and Da Dan were sent by Gu Yizhi to bring An Ruoyan a basket of vegetables, a piece of cured meat, and her rabbit with a cage. Er Dan initially almost called An Ruoyan little sister but corrected himself to pretty sister in front of others. He relayed Gu Yizhi's concern that the rabbit would not live long without food. Er Dan is described as responsible and careful enough to follow instructions from adults.
