"I only read the main storyline! I believe it's an excellent novel with a harem and an OP main character. However, in the second part, there's an increase in ecchi content, which can be slightly disappointing at times, especially considering how Hajime initially portrayed as a confident and dominant alpha with a harem. He was quite honest and assertive, even showing some protectiveness but also having a playful side with his harem. Unfortunately, the focus shifts more towards harem, ecchi, and other aspects in the later chapters, reducing the alpha moments.
My opinion is quite personal, and perhaps my love for the book grew from being my first novel over a year ago. If you're looking for an OP protagonist armed with modern weapons like guns, rocket launchers, and set in a classic high-fantasy world, this might be your ideal choice. The storyline has surpassed my expectations from a typical smut novel, though it can be frustrating at times due to the complex dynamics between the male leads. I generally prefer stories with a single male lead, as multiple love interests can be overwhelming, but well-crafted love triangles are enjoyable if they contribute to an engaging plot. In this case, the plot takes center stage, with steamy scenes serving as a delightful addition.
At first, I was rooting for Shen Yibai, hoping for a one-on-one relationship, especially when their off-plot connection deepened. However, as I delved deeper, understanding Song Canran's feelings and witnessing his reactions, I empathized with him too. Both male leads are commendable, with Shen Yibai benefiting from the plot constraints while Song Canran faces challenges.
Song Canran's attempts to win the female lead's affection through vulnerability were amusing, as she even wondered if he learned from the original heroine's tactics. Shen Yibai's deliberate provocation in a particular scene left a lasting impression.
It's true that the plot's structure worked against Song Canran's chances, while favoring Shen Yibai, as it was the reason the female lead got involved with them. Without the plot, Shen Yibai might not have had a chance due to her initial attraction to Song Canran.
Discovering Shen Yibai's role in the situation was surprising, given my initial bias towards him. It was unexpected, but it added an intriguing twist to the narrative.
Overall, despite initial concerns about the drama involving the original heroine and her potential harem, the story turned out to be entertaining with less focus on that aspect than anticipated. However, I would advise skipping the alternative version, as I found it unsatisfactory.
Upon finishing, I must say, it was a surprisingly enjoyable read,尽管有些情节出乎意料，但总体上是愉快的。
I don't understand why so many people complain that the novel is BL; it's a genre of literature, not a flaw. If you don't like it, don't read it. Frankly, I don't see the point in constantly criticizing that it's a BL. Does it bother you? Then don't bother and save yourself the comment.
