the title is so mysterious!
great bookk!! ... i am wondering, do you have any socmed to keep up with your readers, by the way?
This would probably be one of my favorite novels in this platform. Beautifully written chapters, and a very well-made plot. You can't help but be enchanted by the characters of the book as well. I had fun reading it up to the end.
Is there cheating/adultery in this story author? Please let me know as this is the only trope I don’t read.
I need to discuss the dialogue in this because Zhao Shiyu's voice is so distinctly awful that it's almost impressive. The author gives her a very specific register—arrogant, dismissive, performative—and it never wavers. When Su Jinxiu says "I'm your mother," Zhao Shiyu responds with a laugh like she's heard the greatest joke imaginable. That's not just rude—that's a complete rejection of the concept of maternal bond. And then the dialogue gets even more surgical: "What did you ever give me besides money?" "How many birthdays did you attend?" "How many parent-teacher meetings did you ever show up for?" These aren't just mean lines—they're specific, factual accusations that the narrative itself confirms are partially true. Su Jinxiu missed those things because she was building the company that paid for everything. The dialogue here is doing double duty: it's characterizing Zhao Shiyu as entitled AND it's forcing the reader to sit with the uncomfortable truth that money can't buy presence. But the most striking dialogue comes from Su Jinxiu herself, and it's notable for how little she says. Her lines are quiet, almost whispered: "I'm your mother." "Is it really so shameful for a mother to visit her daughter?" "I came today because I'd like to have dinner with you. Just the two of us." Compare that to Zhao Shiyu's torrent of accusations and you see the entire power dynamic. Su Jinxiu speaks like someone who still hopes. Zhao Shiyu speaks like someone who has already decided her mother is nothing. And then there's the Liu Wanqing phone call—"Mom Wanqing~~" with those tildes, that honeyed voice, the complete transformation from disgust to devotion in three seconds. The contrast between how Zhao Shiyu speaks to each woman tells you everything you need to know about where her loyalties lie. And Su Jinxiu's final line—"If you no longer acknowledge me as your mother... then I won't hold back anymore"—that's not dialogue, that's a declaration of war.
I love this story!
Will this book be updated?
Really intriguing story concept. Very cool.
