Master Of Martial Arts Has An Advanced Optical Brain is a story about Chu Nan, a completely mediocre student who decided to become below-average due to useless pride/stubbornness. Luckily, God (the author) decided to save him by giving him an "advanced optical brain". This allows him to have very high calculative skills and a the ability to process this information extremely fast.I think I am genuinely becoming sick of reading Chinese novels in general. It's very obvious that there is a very severe lack of talented authors that write xianxia/xuanhua. Translation quality is mediocre. Theres many mistakes especially at the end of chapters. (3/5 stars)Story development makes it very apparent that the author only wants word count, nothing else matters. This novel incorporates two of the most annoying writing "techniques" that you'll find in these novels. First, repeating the same information from a different point of view, often taking up an entire chapter. The second is how every time the main character does anything, we are forced to suffer and read some random reaction of some random irrelevant special-ed kid who exists solely to insult the main character. Aside from all that, this story is rather directionless. The only goal is for the main character to get to a higher-tier academy. What awful and cliche settings. We go from school arc to tournament arc to another school arc. Seriously? Character design is awful as well. I feel like it's a waste to write another long-paragraph. We have the same cliche annoying characters as every other martial arts novel. (2/5 stars)World background is also abysmal. In sixty chapters, I don't even think that the author has mentioned the main character's family aside from saying he comes from a family of farmers. Aside from that, barely anything has been properly described. We are suddenly in a school arc with the main character making many improvements, and then thrown into a drawn-out tournament arc. In sixty chapters, aside from introducing more useless and cliche characters, as well as providing a very superficial understanding of the world, we know next to nothing. Very poor attempt. (1/5 stars)Overall, it's yet another novel where the author solely cares for word count. The only positives in this novel are solely coincidences that I doubt the author meant to happen in the first place. I give this novel 2.4 stars out of 5.
Thanks to the author for explaining that it was indeed intentional to time skip the section I asked about. Only gripe I have is how abrupt and random the time skip was, especially when it spoiled a LOT of story. For those that want to know when this big skip happens, it's the chapter after [Trauma].SPOILER NEXT:The big leap from the MC just surviving an attack, only to suddenly jump to when he's now suddenly in a life or death duel with no clue as to who any of the newly introduced characters are is disorienting. I thought it was intended at first but the amount of information that was lacking was off putting and frustrating to read through to the point where I genuinely thought there were chapters missing. It wasn't like the time skip thing that happened at the start where the MC clicked "NO" and then we got the background up until that foreshadowing point, it was just a straight up skip of what seemed to be 1-2 mini arcs worth of content to read.CONCLUSION:I enjoy this story, but the fact that I have to trudge through a completely new arc and characters I know nothing about and have to remember what their relationships and characteristics are have put me in a dilemma as it started becoming less enjoyable for me. I may try and read again later cause I don't want to make reading what is clearly a well thought out and developed story a chore. I recommend reading in small intervals, or stop if you get confused and take a break.
Good story! You actually made de mc loss of humanity seem realistic, considering the circumstances and all the characters feel alive too.The only bad thing about the story so far is that there are not enough chapters.
This novel is so good. although the pacing is a bit slow in the Beginning, the comedy is solid and the characters feel 3 dimensional. not to mention the point its currently at (~chapter 95) the twist hits like a truck and has you not wanting to stop reading
The main reason I do not continue to read this novel is simply because the author continually gives the mc breakthroughs saying he has reached the next realm in his techniques, then several chapters later he'll get to that same realm again after important moment, great struggle, or fortuitous encounter. Once or twice if corrected is understandable, we're human, no ones perfect. However, I read to chapter 32 and this occurred 6 times, uncorrected. That has killed my interest.
Finally time to give my first shameless review. You readers might have already noticed this but in case you didn't, I'll just let you know that I have no experience of writing online.I used to write dramas for my school but they too were in a language that was very different from English. But I am trying to improve my writing as much as possible. That's all I had to say in my defence. Now when it comes to the story, you'll find several cases in the start where things just happen suddenly without much information and it might get confusing for a while but trust me when I say that by chapter 100 you'll get to know the reason why all of the things are so rapid for the MC and no it was not a mistake. I wanted the MC to fix this problem and I wanted him to be a confused mess. The story will take unexpected routes but when everything comes together it will be a spectacle to witness.I won't ask you to be patient and wait for some hopeful rain shower. So if you find it not worthy of your time you can leave any moment you want.Because at the end of the day it will be my fault that I couldn't entertain you. Thanks for reading this<3
I feel this book deserves to be published on apple bookstore and more other reading places. Just an idea of mine you should publish it when you have time. To any wondering whether this book is worth reading it most definitely is.
I liken it to Japanese mecha anime. It's going well for now. Let's see how it goes...
