Ed Warren is a young student studying to become a monk at the Franciscan Monastery Order.
But just like most boys his age from low income families such as his, his reasons for joining the monastery stemed not from the desire to devout to study the divine mysteries, but to quench his hunger from the lavish foods served to the students from the donations of wealthy families and individuals renouncing worldly riches and desires.
One day, Ed Warren's life takes a spiral turn when the possessed daughter of a wealthy monarch gets possessed by a malevolent demon and all the other students are sent back home for her exorcism to take place, but under the guise of a demon invasion; demons Ed himself hadn't seen.
Vilified after being caught for disobeying rules, Ed Warren returns home to find his childhood crush, Lorraine Blai, in a sinful position with his grandfather who supposedly died and was buried decades ago.
Confusion settles in and Ed's curiosity lands him in a sphere where a war was being waged by death against Hades and the demons, in preparation for the apocalypse.
