“You! You took advantage of me! I was clearly drunk and…”

He arched an eyebrow. “Took advantage? Shall I remind you of how you proposed to me at the club? Or perhaps how you insisted quite passionately, that we must be married immediately, so that I could make love to you?”

The memory hit me then. Oh no.

When Susan’s boyfriend proposes to his supposed cousin, at her own graduation ceremony, she does what any rational person would do: gets spectacularly drunk and marries a handsome stranger in an Elvis-themed chapel. But her “random” wedding wasn’t so random after all - her new husband is Raphael Marino, the most dangerous man in the city and, unfortunately, her father’s employer.

Between her mother’s excitement at joining the “family,” her father’s nervous sweating, and her new husband’s irritating ability to make her heart race (when she’s not throwing vases at his head,) Susan’s new life is nothing like the post-graduation plans she had in mind.

But when she tries to run away, armed with nothing but her graduation gown and a hangover, she learns the hard way that a mob boss doesn’t let go of what’s his. Especially not when she’s accidentally become the answer to all his problems.

Book one was fantastic! I can’t wait to see how our gifted main character and his beloved companions develop and conquer this new realm. Every character deserves attention and I love how much care the author takes in their personal development even though they might not be the main character.

Not really a shame the author dropped this novel considering the end was going to be quite disappointed anyway. Great while it lasted but the author clearly lost motivation way before ending the novel since the unfinished arc wasn't enjoyable to the slightest. The protagonist was great as he was, a selfish young man with mental illness but the author clearly had other plans for him which would surely just make him another protagonist just slightly more mature. Small amount of plot-armor here and there, the world building was average, the cultivation system is average aswell. What made this novel slightly unique is it's side characters which some of them have genuine personality but I always had the feeling their life revolved around protagonist despite the author saying they don't.

Continuing his descent, both mentally and physically, he finally reached the ground floor. There, he continued his journey until he reached the courtyard. Here, he headed for the high school chapel.
