The rebel army leader swung his sword to my neck on the city tower, as I faced a dead end. Then, with a huge grin, he said to Tantai Jin, “Between your wife and Miss Ye, only one can live. Who are you going to pick?”

The system cautiously looked at Ye Bingshang, who was crying, and said, “Master, he’ll pick you.”

“Let Ye Bingshang go,” Tantai Jin ordered without hesitation.

“Uh oh,” said the system.

“Uh oh,” I said.

“Tantai Jin must know that your family is large and owns a lot of property,” the system remarked, reassuringly. “As a result, he must think that the secret guards will save you.”

Tantai Jin thought similarly. So, on that day, in front of 300 thousand men, I smiled at him and jumped off the city tower, beneath his shattered gaze.

I didn’t even leave a complete body behind for him.

So, this is the ‘BE’ ending that I have chosen for Tantai Jin.

As the new emperor, Tantai Jin’s hair turned white overnight in the first year of Jinghe. Then he turned into an insane devil that slaughtered the city, even beheading Ye Bingshang.

And after Nirvana, I, who had already seen through these few years of hopeless love, returned to the immortal cultivation realm. Being a little fairy makes me happy too.

Many years later, I’m claimed to be the white moonlight of a fallen divinity throughout the immortal cultivation realm.

Tantai Jin had never sobbed in his entire life. No one had ever witnessed his frail state, even if his eye was gouged out and his meridian veins were cut.

That was the day that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives. With blood and tears streaming down his cheeks like beads, he pleaded for mercy.

I recently read the novel after watching the drama, and one scene from the book that stood out (unadapted in the series) was when Ye Xiwu used magic to deliberately discomfort Tantai Jin, a character in the novel who exhibits masochistic tendencies, which were not portrayed in the show. In a poignant moment, Tantai Jin begged Ye Xiwu to hurt him, despite her intense dislike for him. To her surprise, Ye Xiwu, driven by her恨, took advantage of the situation without realizing Tantai Jin's true nature as a masochist. The scene depicted a tragic mix of hatred and self-loathing on both their parts, evoking deep sadness.

It's important to note that, although Tantai Jin may have appeared to derive some pleasure from the abuse due to his psychological state, I believe it was more a coping mechanism rooted in his Stockholm syndrome-like feelings towards Ye Xiwu.

However, what I found most satisfying in the novel's conclusion, particularly the additional chapter, was the resolution of their complex past and the answers it provided. It wrapped up the story beautifully.

Here's the rewritten passage in English:

"Just sharing my personal opinion, but I genuinely enjoyed this novel. However, I must mention that it might not appeal to those looking for a conventional sweet love story. The male lead (ML) displays quite abusive behavior towards the female lead (FL), so if this isn't your preference, I wouldn't recommend it. The story can be quite heart-wrenching, which is why I suggest it for those who enjoy intense love-hate dynamics.

In the early chapters, the ML struggles with understanding emotions, which adds an intriguing aspect to the plot. The FL doesn't fall in love with him when inhabiting YeXiwu's body, and they're unaware of each other's feelings. The romantic development is relatively slow in pace, in my view. The author's portrayal of the ML's character arc seems quite deep, as he eventually gets a happy ending – which readers can rest assured about.

If you're into悲剧 themes and complex characters, especially the 'scum ML' trope, I highly recommend giving this a read. Enjoy the emotional journey!"

This passage provides a balanced review, highlighting both the aspects that make the novel appealing and those that might deter some readers based on their preferences.

I deeply desire for this novel to be exceptional, as the concepts are strong, the characters captivating, and the narrative thrilling. However, I believe it falls short in terms of competent writing, preventing me from fully appreciating its potential. The plot development left me exasperated, as it seemed to endlessly revolve around an unchanging status quo. No significant growth occurred in the protagonists' connections post-midpoint, which is typically a favorite aspect of mine, particularly when it comes to the main character. Despite feeling同情 for the protagonist, my empathy waned with each chapter filled with unnecessary setbacks. I hold hope that future developments will improve the story's drama, as I am drawn to the initial concept. Unfortunately, my patience has run thin, and I cannot continue reading at this point.

Alright, I've noticed that some readers have gone beyond the latest chapter, and I'm utterly confused about how they accessed it. Despite enjoying the story, I can appreciate that the main character has principles and boundaries. It's understandable that she wouldn't forgive everything. The dynamics between the protagonist and the male lead (ML) are quite unusual. The ML appears to prioritize survival above justice, which might evoke sympathy due to his tragic past.

However, the revelation of his birth story left me disturbed, almost like a shark consuming its own siblings in the womb – a chilling scene. But even so, it doesn't justify his actions, as it highlights the subjective nature of good and evil. I must admit, I find myself in a contradictory position. Initially, I was disappointed when the MC didn't assist the ML, but I can see his dark side, which could lead to him embracing evil rather than goodness.

In a way, I was hoping that showing kindness to him without causing chaos might change him, but I realize now how hypocritical that thought is. This book might not be suitable for those with a sensitive disposition.

Overall, though, it's an engaging read. It's strange that no one questioned the character transformation, but perhaps that's part of the narrative. I ended up spending the entire night devouring the story.

"I would rate it 3.5 stars. Although I appreciated the OTP's dynamic, even if it came with heartbreak and disappointment, the xianxia elements became repetitive and hard to follow. However, I am extremely enthusiastic about the upcoming drama adaptation featuring Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi. Luo Yunxi is an excellent choice to portray Tantai Jin."
