In a parallel universe, every person is born with special abilities known as curses. Curses tend to handicap the user in some way but can offer useful abilities. Vex finds himself to be cursed with misfortune, which causes his life to go disarray. Burdened by his past, he desires to be freed from his curse and rid the world of curses entirely. After rescuing Lily, a young cat demi-human girl, on behalf of his client, the two make an unlikely party to explore the nine countries of the world in order to summon a goddess to grant their wishes.
