Cesare Traon Karl Erzet, the Imperial Commander-in-Chief.

After three years of service in the war, he returned to propose to Eileen.

Eileen struggled to believe that Cesare’s marriage proposal was sincere.

After all, from the moment they met when she was ten,

The affectionate man had always treated her like a child.

“I don’t—I don’t want to marry Your Highness.”

For so long, her love for him was unrequited.

She did not wish for their marriage to be a transaction.

Was it because of the long war?

The man, who was normally cool and rational, had changed.

His impulsive actions, his unbridled desire for her—they were all too unfamiliar.

“This should only be done with someone you love!”

“You can also do it with the person you plan to marry.”

Eileen was intrigued by this change.

And yet, the closer she became with Cesare…

She discovered things that defied reason or logic.

Eileen learned about her husband’s many evil deeds not long after.

“I couldn’t even have your body, Eileen.”

Everything he did was for her.

He became the villain, only for his Eileen.

It is just me that dont like the main couple? The ML is so narcissist, annoying & overproud. In the beginning, the ML behave like a scum, but get slightly better after that but still his attitude is still annoying. You can try reading this book, if you can't accept the main couple, you can skip to next couple

I prefer the side couple more:

1. NianXi & Jiang
2. Xu Baohan & An Lan
3. Mo Liuxi & Yansu

Thoroughly enjoyed the first 600 or so chaps (first major arc). The teacher trying to bring his powerful wayward students under control was well written, though mc depends way too much on system items. I think the end of that arc was a good place to stop, because after that I gradually lost interest. It's just generic fighting more powerful new enemies, DBZ cr*p. The students who were very independent have just been relegated to side characters who the MC is hard carrying now, and it doesn't help that any potentially challenging scenario is just solved by using a death card. I don't feel any stakes at this point.

The world building is interesting (regarding lotuses), but the characters in the later parts are just not interesting enough to carry forward the story.
