Lilian softly pleaded, "It's just for a few hours. Please, assist me." Her voice was filled with desperation, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, but she maintained composure despite being a stranger to him.
"Why should I?" Shane replied coldly, as helping strangers was not a trait he valued.
"I'm willing to pay the cost," Lilian exclaimed, desperation evident in her tone. "Please, grant me this favor."
Shane observed the girl standing before him, wondering how they were not acquainted. He couldn't imagine what she might offer in return. Sensing his thoughts, Lilian offered, "I'll do anything you ask after this is over."
With an indifferent expression, Shane inquired, "Do you guarantee your word?"
"It's a deal," Lilian agreed without fully considering the implications. Life had never been easy for her, and she felt like she had nothing left to lose.
Little did Lilian know, accepting Shane's offer would lead to unforeseen consequences.
