In the times of the Khalmerin Empire a creature, known as a jotuun, is held captive by a cruel Lord in a pit, deep within a mountain. The only person who can help him is a humble peasant, with no parents and no name. The peasant soon discovers that it is their destiny to travel the world with the jotuun, and his mysterious purple stone. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey, made even more precarious by the malicious beast hunter and a powerful necromage. The jotuun must teach the peasant; the ways of magic, the ways of the world, and the ways of the jotuun.
