"You're a Vampire?" he croaked, disbelief evident in his voice.
I suddenly became aware of my fangs, which had appeared during my moment of vulnerability.
"It's not what it seems, Zee," I tried to explain, reaching out to comfort him. But he took a step back.

I swallowed hard, trying to find the right words. "I'm your intended, Zee," I said, gripping the sheets tightly as I slowly retracted my fangs.

I froze, attempting to reason with him. "Zee..."
